Artist's Description
This is an example of a portrait from a photo. This is Mississippi John Hurt, one of the early greats of the Delta blues. He recorded some inspirational songs, and a few classics like Stack O'Lee (Stagger Lee), and Avalon Blues, among others. He started in the late 20s and into the 30s with some recordings on Okeh Records, and had a resurgence in the 60s. His home was made into a small museum in Avalon, MS, just north of Greenwood. This is the second in my series of blues greats.
