Artist's Description

This is the sixth in my series of Mississippi Delta Blues musicians. John Lee Hooker was born near Clarksdale, MS. During the 1930s, Hooker played at the Daisy Theater in Memphis, whose tile floor is shown. He later went to Detroit and worked in the auto factories up there and perfected his technique. He originally used many names, but ended up with his own. He appeared in the Blues Brothers movie. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as a Grammy, and was inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Blues Hall of Fame. He died in 1981.
